The Christmas Shoe box Appeal
The Shoebox Appeal is all about giving gifts to very vulnerable children who have so little in different parts of the world such as countries in Eastern Europe and Africa. With the help of Ms. N Murray, a team of TY students were picked to help carry out the Shoebox Appeal in Dominican College. Students on the committee were assigned classes from each year group to help them prepare their shoe boxes.
We explained the 4 W's that they would have to include for their shoebox; Write, Wash, Wear and Wow! Many items that we take for granted had to be included in the boxes such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, school copies, colouring pencils, hat, gloves, small toys and sweets.
On Friday the 9th of November, the Shoebox committee team spent 2 hours going through all of the shoe boxes that were donated by students and made sure that they were ready to be sent of to many eagerily awaiting children. For the majority of these children it will be the only gift that they will get all year.
We wish to thank all students and staff who helped with the appeal. Thanks to you, 264 shoeboxes were sent from Dominican College this year.
