3rd Year Maths Learning Hub

3rd Year Maths Learning Hub

3rd Year students need more focus when studying maths to move past ‘getting stuck’? Getting along ok in Maths but have lots of maths questions? 3rd Year students come along to our Maths Learning Hub next term!

After Easter 3rd Year students will have the opportunity to drop into our new Maths Learning Hub with their maths problems or questions. The Maths Learning Hub will be open to 3rd Year students on Mondays & Wednesdays from 3:50 - 4:30 in the Library. This is a new free initiative, modelled on 3rd level maths support services. There is no need to make an appointment, just ‘drop in’.

5th Year Leaders

Our 3rd Year Maths Learning Hub aims to provide maths support for students of all ability levels. We have a team of senior 5th Year Maths students who will be available as maths leaders encouraging and supporting 3rd Year students as they complete their maths learning, study, and homework. Maths leaders will work through maths problems/difficulties.

What should I bring?

  • Bring in your maths notes, worksheets, textbooks and anything else you can which will help us understand what you are being taught.
  • If you are stuck on a particular question, bring in all your written attempts
  • If you are having difficulties in general with maths, you should attend the hub regularly to build up your knowledge, skills and understanding.
  • Most of all bring your ‘can do’ attitude!

Safe Space

The Maths learning hub is an informal, impartial, non-judgmental welcoming safe environment for students to ask maths leaders questions freely on any maths topic where the maths leaders can assist and direct students on how to approach, work through and solve maths problems. It is a collaborative learning space where students are encouraged to help each other and push through frustration points in their learning.

We can facilitate a maximum of 30 students per session on a first-come-first-served basis. Students will be asked to register on arrival and complete a short form to assist us with planning the types of support and topics that will be required from week to week.

Ms Brien and Ms Norris look forward to working and supporting both 5th Year Maths Leaders and 3rd Year students in the final weeks of term in Maths Learning!
