Fortunately, luck was on my side in the year 2022 after COVID-19 when I was able to put on another jersey of great value to me, My secondary school’s jersey. This jersey was unique as I got to play with girls from our club’s rival teams, my closest friends, and people I had never spoken to. We all had one thing in common and that was the love for the sport we played.
As we put on that black and white jersey we were met with a different feeling, yes we felt pride but we also had a new level of motivation. Slipping into that black and white jersey ignited something profound within us—a surge of pride intertwined with an electrifying sense of motivation. We wanted to work for each other, motivate one another, and support one another. It was a rare and unique bond, especially considering that we usually wore different jerseys and represented different teams with distinct stories. Having the privilege of wearing this Dominican College jersey switched from being able to miss classes to having the privilege of representing the school with the people who are willing to work just as hard for me as I am for them. Unfortunately much like many things in life sports is not always easy and there are many good and bad days! I was lucky enough to win two trophies in Camogie and Ladies Football with Dominican College that year. Not only is the Dominican College jersey a faithful companion it has brought me close to my most loyal companions too, and this is something that will never change. All good things must come to an end, but as said items will keep the memories alive! Even if the item is a piece of fabric with a number sewn onto me back of it. To the outside world, the Dominican College jersey is just another jersey, but to me and my teammates, it means so much more than that.
