As part of Respect and Connect week, our whole school had a class on the new bullying policy called ‘Bí Cinéalta’. We learned about what to do if we see bullying behaviour and how to report it. We want to create a safer, easier, and enjoyable school environment for everyone, so we mustn’t tolerate bullying behaviour and get help immediately to try to prevent it from escalating.
Respect and Connect and Bí Cinéalta are a big part of school life here in Dominican College. We learned about aspects of bullying, whether it’s cyberbullying or in-person. As part of our Bí Cinéalta, we discussed the importance of the 5 fingers of support in school. The five fingers of support include teachers, the chaplain, guidance counselors, other trusted adults within the school community, and your form tutor. We strive to reduce bullying, but also spread awareness to our whole school community in ways such as learning about Coco’s law to understand the effects of bullying in DML. As a part of our DML class, we also learned about the acceptable use policy.
