Junior Soccer Team
On Wednesday, October 1st, the 1st Years represented DCGA in their first soccer match against Clonturk Community College.
The girls showed brilliant teamwork, spirit, skill, and tenacity on the pitch, all qualities that are characteristic of our school’s sports players. From the moment that the starting whistle was blown til the game came to an end, they were relentless in their drive and gave it all they had, and it was a sight to be seen. Their passing, communication, dribbling, and positioning were remarkable, and they showed huge enthusiasm for the sport.
Many come from different local clubs, but others have never played before, yet they demonstrated an incredible flair for the sport. Our girls were always the first to the ball, ready for the tackle, and there were many breathtaking crosses into the box, as well as golden passes. They were very unlucky not to score any goals, and in the end, Clonturk won, but the girls should be unbelievably proud of themselves for the skill, effort, and sportsmanship they displayed, and I know that the whole school is prouder than they could ever imagine. It is clear that many great things are to come from this team in the coming years, so watch this space!
