Sports Day 2025

Sports Day 2025

From the moment anybody stepped into Morton Stadium in the early morning, they would’ve felt the air of anticipation that continued to build as more students flooded inside. Traffic was heavy, but that didn't stop anyone, with many teachers and students alike flocking to the stadium to support the school. Most classes had the innovative spirit to bring in face paint and give their classmates pictures and colours that represent their class. As time passed, friends gathered together and chatted animatedly in their class colours, a sea of red, blue, black and more coating the stands.

When the time came to start our events, we all split up via the orders of our teachers, enjoying the thrill of sprinting or the chaos of the egg and spoon race. It was astounding to see how we all came together to cheer each other on and to participate in all sorts of different events, ranging from what students called a “surprisingly super difficult” wellie throw to the “intensive” relay races. But the students weren’t the only ones boosting morale! There were also teachers who, though they cannot pick favourites, made sure to ask students how they were doing and watched the competitions. The school spirit was clearly shown also during the teachers vs. sixth-year tug-of-war, creating an atmosphere of fun, and working well with the week of Respect and Connect. All students, no matter the year, painted their faces their class colours, unafraid to show pride.

Team spirit.

DCGA as a whole really came together, especially the sixth years, who really showed their commitment one final time in the brilliant show! Morton Stadium had better be as happy to have us as we were to have them, because I can definitely say that lots of people had a brilliant time! All in all, this year’s sports day was one to remember, filled with joy and fun as we celebrated the skills of our students and teachers in sports, while making it enjoyable for those whose strengths don’t fit into that field, and even people who aren’t fans of sports got in on the team spirit. Let’s hope Sport’s Day next year is equally as inclusive and memorable!
