Admissions to 1st Year 2022/2023

The details of the opening of the First Year 2022/2023 waiting list were posted here at the end of September 2021. The application process is now closed. Applications were accepted by the school from 01 October 2021 for a period of three weeks.

The Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 (commencement February 2020) provides for a five-year period for current waiting lists to expire, allowing schools to honour commitments they have already made to parents.

The expiration of Dominican College’s waiting lists for entry into 1st Year commenced in the school year 2021/2022 and is inclusive of the subsequent years 2022/2023, 2023/2024, 2024/2025 & 2025/2026. Applicants whose names are on the waiting list will receive an offer of a place, if available, for the year of entry applied for as per our Admissions Policy and Annual Admissions Notice.

FAQ

My daughter’s name is already on the waiting list for 2022/2023. Do I need to complete another application for admission?

No, if you have already completed an application form for 2022/2023 you do not need to complete another application form.

My daughter is in Junior Infants. Can I put her name on the waiting list for secondary school?

In meeting the requirements of the Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018 Dominican College no longer accepts student's names when in Junior Infants for a waiting list for enrolment into 1st Year.

When can I put my daughter's name down for secondary school?

Our Annual Admissions Notice will announce Admissions to 1st Year in October prior to starting secondary school. i.e October when the student is in 6th class.

Can I put my daughter’s name down at any time during the year?

No. An application for entry into 1st year can only be accepted following the publication of an Annual Admissions Notice for a given year. The Admission Notice will include the date from which the school will accept applications and the deadline for receiving them for the year concerned.
