Classroom-Based Assessments (CBAs) provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their learning and skills in ways not possible in a pen-and-paper examination. For example, their verbal communication and investigation skills.
2nd Year CBAs
CBA 1 is undertaken in 2nd Year during a defined time period within normal class contact time. Arrangements for this cohort remain as per the Framework for Junior Cycle (2015) for this school year 2022-2023. Our School CBA Timetable for 2nd Year is aligned with the national CBA windows. CBAs will form the basis of our 2nd Year Summer Report and will be reported in the Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA) using the following descriptors that are linked to the Features of Quality for each subject:

Yet to Meet Expectations
3rd Year CBAs
For the current 3rd Years doing Junior Cycle in 2023 the exceptional circumstances arising from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on teaching
and learning, each student must complete a minimum of one CBA in each subject and one CBA in each short course.
Students from this cohort will not be required to complete Assessment Tasks. The results of one CBA in each subject will be reported on in the Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement.
