LC - Accounting

Accounting is a Business Studies option within the established Leaving Certificate programme. Accounting is the art of recording, classifying and summarising in terms of money, transactions and events which are , in part at least, of a financial character, and interpreting the results.
The syllabus is divided into the following main topics:

  1. Conceptual Framework (Objectives and Fundamentals of Accounting).
  2. Accounting Records (Control Accounts, Final Accounts, and Suspense Accounts).
  3. Analysis of Financial Statements (Ratio Analysis).
  4. Management Accounting (Cost Classification and Budgetary Planning).
